Mundae Sandals We discovered these amazing sandals during our travels through the Copper Canyon of the Sierra Madre mountain range in Chihuahua, Mexico. Handcrafted by the Tarahumara Indians, who have inhabited the canyons since the fifteenth century, each pair is as distinctive and original as a piece of art. Put together with an absolutely inspired set of materials- recycled tire treads and native leather- the sandals are amazingly light when strapped to the feet and standard “gear” for Tarahumara men and women alike.

While on our journey, we learned that the Tarahumara Indians are finding it increasingly difficult to survive on their own means and keep their culture intact. Knowing we had to help, and after a year odyssey of coordination, we have teamed up with the Tarahumara, Casa de las Artesanias and the State of Chihuahua, Mexico, to help the Tarahumara by bringing their unique sandals to the rest of the world. We invite you to experience a small part of Tarahumara culture, and help the Tarahumara Indians as well, with the purchase of your own Sierra Sandals. A portion of the proceeds of your purchase will directly benefit the Tarahumara Indians.
